Singapore Part 2

Day 2: Universal Studios

Okay folks, here’s a quick review on some of the thrills and spills that await you at Universal Studios Singapore. The Universal Studio is the only Hollywood movie theme park in Singapore and I should say the place is simply INCREDIBLE! The place features several Dream Works Animation-themed attractions, including the characters from the Shrek and Madagascar films, as well as a Battlestar Galactica-themed twin roller coaster i think? which was a good choice. I must say the owners have done a good job! The place has lots of great rides that it ended us all confused where to ride first. Hahaha! Dinosaurs, lemurs, ogres and Egyptian mummies add to the thrills and adventures. I tell you this will be an experience that you will not forget in Singapore. Lasting memories are made.

Let’s dive in on the photos!

The iconic blue globe with the words Universal Studio encircling it greeted us at the main podium just before the ticket entrance.

Far Far Away

Step into the twisted fairytale world of Shrek. The ride to watch here is Shrek 4D Adventure. With the help of 3D glasses, the characters were pretty much popping outta the screen toward you all the time, and when the donkey sneezes, you will feel it, literally.

Taking a picture at Shrek’s crib!

image

Such a nice entrance for the Shrek 4D Show. Who wouldn’t be excited to enter such beautiful castle?

PRE SHOW. We are led into a dungeon-like room with two giant television screens on either side. On the screen, the ghost of Lord Farquaad, who escaped the mouth of the dragon, announces that he has kidnapped the 3 little pigs, Gingerbread man and Pinocchio and is holding them hostage.

I have no pictures inside the theater since it’s prohibited.

Lost World

This zone is created based on Stephen Spielberg phenomenal movie, Jurassic Park. The Lost World divided into two smaller regions : Jurassic Park and Waterworld.

1. Water World

image

Entering the Water World! 😀 It is a life recreation of the movie with performers executing stunts on jet skis, fist fights and lots of pyrotechnics. Now, who wants to get soaking wet?

 While waiting for other watchers..

2. Canopy Flyer

image

The canopy flyer caught my eye!

image

The Canopy Flyer is a surprising treat. Not as fast as a roller coaster, yet packing enough juice to take your breath away, the Canopy Flyer is like a mini cable car.

image

While we were still in line.

image

This is a photo that I do not own. My canopy flyer pictures were all deleted.

I recommend that you go sit in the rear. Going through the motions backwards is much more thrilling. As you cannot see where you are going, every bank and turn is a treat. Hahaha!

3. Jurassic Park Adventures

Decided to eat Lunch at the Jurrassic Cafe.

image

image

image

I loved the theme of this restaurant but with the walk-through lunch line, the place felt like a school cafeteria. Too many people.

image

I got the roasted chicken meal, with red mashed potatoes/gravy. The mash potatoes were really good but the dessert was gross! Sorry but I didn’t like it. Overall, their food was good.  You can get a plate that’ll usually run you about $8 per plate.

New York

The main shopping street of Universal Studios. Expect to find a smorgasbord of souvenir stalls, restaurants and cafes

Lights, Camera, Action! Hosted By Steven Spielberg, is one of our favorites as well. We actually got to see an empty sound-stage bursting into flames and with a ship crashing in!

Just a sample picture since cameras were also prohibited.

Sci-Fi City

image

Moving on to Sci-Fi City, home to the tallest duelling rollercoasters in the world, the Battlestar Galactica.

image

Thrill-seekers can choose between a coaster where they are seated or the other where riders are suspended. Exciting loops, sudden turns, breathtaking drops and thrilling near-collisions will make you scream your heart out! 🙂

image

During our visit, it was disappointing since this ride has not opened yet. But this attraction is a must ride.

Madagascar

Ancient Egypt

image

 Love the gigantic stone sculptors!

image

We rode the indoor roller coaster and I must say it was one of my favorite rides! hahaha 😀 If you have seen the movie, you will enjoy seeing many familiar faces as you explore the tomb. Lots of sudden drops and creepy passage ways make this a quick favorite. I admit that I really got scared because the tomb was very dark.

And lastly, a souvenir before going home!

After having fun in USS Singapore, we went back to the hotel and had a good night sleep. for our next trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

You must have had a roller coaster of a time at the Universal Studios! The pictures are great and thank you for sharing because it made me reminisce our vacation that we had taken a while back!

Universal Studios is a great experience, isn’t it? Glad to see your travel blog depicting almost all the rides of the USS. Great work Madam.. 🙂
I visited the USS Singapore a couple of years back. Made sure I rode them all, especially the breathtaking roller coasters. It was a definite adrenaline pump for me. I liked the ones in Jurassic Park as well (surprisingly, I didn’t get wet despite having no water protection.. :-P)
