The Beauty of Being Single

It’s the wonderful month of hearts once again and the awaited Valentine’s Day is coming up. However, it can’t be denied that there are some single people trying to put on their sad faces because they don’t have someone they call “Signficant Other.”

The word ‘single’ carries one of the most negative connotations these days. In the public’s eye, being single is equivalent to being lonesome. Who said being single is ugly and to be ashamed of? Who said single life prevents you from being happy and contented? We think such things because we are clearly brainwashed by the world’s standards. Being single is actually full of enlightenment and self-finding. Therefore, don’t go gloomy every Valentine’s day because February 14 is just a day that will just go by.

THANK GOD FOR BEING SINGLE

I’ve heard more married people thank God for their season of singleness than I’ve heard single people thank God in their season of singleness. It gives the impression that now, in retrospect, they realize what God was doing all along while they were single and they thank Him for it, which is good, nothing wrong with that, because of course, sometimes, if not most times, we don’t understand and fully appreciate what God is doing until later. But do we have to wait until we understand it before we thank Him? Does it have to be until we get it that we can express our gratitude?

You know, the bible tells us to “thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]”. -1 Thessalonians 5:18

Being single is a time that you can never get back once you get married (I’m emphasizing marriage here because there’s no other way we’re heading to once we’re in a romantic relationship but marriage). Being tied to your lifetime partner is just equal to more responsibilities, bidding goodbye to that freedom of doing anything on your own, making decisions by yourself, scheduling your daily routine and many more.

THANK GOD FOR THIS SEASON OF WAITING

Each season of our lives has its place and purpose. There is a season to be a baby and then a season to be a child. There is a season to be a teenager and then a season to be an adult. There is a season to be single and then to get married. So, don’t be such in a hurry in getting into a relationship. You might miss the good things in this beautiful season. Just remember that wherever we are right now is a season that God has placed in our lives to take pleasure in and enjoy before finally sharing our love to someone.

You may not like this season He has you in, you may not understand how you are 30 going on 31 and you are not even dating anyone, when you thought you’d have 2 kids by now, you may not understand why most of your friends are married and you’re still in school studying Law or Medicine and still livin’ la Vida sola (Haha, please I need you to laugh). You may not understand how everyone else’s boyfriend/girlfriend has been able to find them but it seems yours is having some difficulties finding his/her way.

You may not understand it all, perhaps that’s why God says, to trust in Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, stop trying to figure it out, just trust Him. You can trust Him because He is so, so faithful.

THANK GOD FOR GIVING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY & GROW

Believe-Pray-Grow

If you are single and have prayed and prayed for someone to love you forever, and that man/woman has not appeared, don’t think God has forgotten you. I mention this because I hear this a lot. Continue to give all your needs to the Lord and tell Him you trust Him to fulfill them. Tell Him you recognize that your greatest need is for more of Him. Don’t let discouragement about your situation cause you to settle for anything less than what God has for you. At the same time, don’t make your requirements so strict that no one can ever live up to them or would even want to try. Ask God what He wants before you tell Him what you want.

Seek the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and trust Him that He knows what (and who) is best for you. Serve God by staying in the center of His will, doing what He has asked you to do, and giving of yourself for His kingdom. When we are obedient in all of the things God is asking of us, we end up at the right place at the right time. And timing is extremely important. Make God the fulfillment of your greatest dreams and needs, and He will hear your prayers about the deepest longings of your heart. Don’t give up or stop praying; just continue growing deeper in your walk with the Lord

Happy New Year!

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalms 103:1-5

Before the yearof 2016 fade away and say goodbye. I would like to have a quick pause and mention the things that I’m thankful for the past year. So here’s a quick one:)

FAITHFULNESS

received_10206928522161790I’m always in awe of how faithful is the Lord to me and my family (even when I’m not faithful to Him all the time). In good times, God is faithful. In bad times, God is faithful. In times of uncertainty, God is faithful. In times of doubt, God is faithful. During transitions and changing times, God is still faithful to His promises. He has always been with me through ups and downs even when I don’t deserve this.

I’m also thankful because God granted my dreams to become a future doctor. I admit I always complain how tired I am in studying but what about my parents? They’re also tired of working hard to pay for our education. So instead of complaining I should be grateful because my parents allowed me to study in a prestigious school. It was not easy for my parents because often medicine and dentistry are among the most expensive courses. So just imagine how hard it would be to allow me and my 2 sisters pursue our dreams in becoming doctors (the other two are taking Dentistry and Medical Technology as pre-medical course) but like I said, God is always faithful and He finds a way for us to pay for our tuition fees. He pours us with so much love and blessings. And because of that, I thank you, God!

FAMILY

I’m thankful to God for giving me a family so loving and caring. Growing up in a big family was the best thing that ever happened to me. My childhood was so happy and I can’t stop reminiscing those good times.

I’m thankful to God for giving me parents that never fail to show us how much they love us, parents that really work hard for our future and parents that teach us good moral values (they really walk the talk). Dad and mom, thank you for making us who we are right now. We wouldn’t have made it this far it weren’t for your love, encouragement and support.

NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY

Around 2014, our eldest sister got married. This year, our 2nd eldest and her boyfriend went home from Abu Dhabi and got married on the month of December. I just can’t stop praising God because He has blessed my sisters with handsome, hardworking, responsible and God-fearing men. Men that love God first. As what they say, men who love God first are the ones that properly lead a woman. Therefore, I won’t be having any trouble entrusting my sisters to these wonderful men!

Other than that, I’m also thankful because I just realized that my family is growing in number. I already have 2 brothers-in-law now and I can’t help but feel very glad cause I can already call them my “Kuya” (it is used in Filipino for older brother). I just hope and pray that my other sisters will also marry godly men so we can carry on the legacy of our parents which is to honor God with all our hearts, mind and soul.

TRAVEL

dsc03773

Thankful to God because I get to travel to many places this year and one of the memorable places I’ve been to is Taipei, Taiwan. It was a vacation to remember because it was my first time to travel with 4 families. Thank You Lord for blessing me much more than I deserve!

Happy New Year, Friends! ❤

Thank God for Your neurons

20160411_095544

Lord Jesus,

I thank You for my neurons. For my well functioning dendrites and axons.

You created my brain for the purpose of bringing glory to Your name. I do not want my brain to be conformed to the patterns of this world, instead I ask You to enter all areas of my brain that You might give me the ability to process academic and spiritual wisdom from your Holy Spirit.

I believe that you created my inner most being and that my brain is fearfully and wonderfully made by your hand.

Lord I repent of all the times I have not regarded my brain and my learning abilities as a gift from You. I ask you to forgive me for the negative thoughts and words that I have spoken against my own brain and learning abilities.

I repent of trying to solve my learning problems through my own efforts rather than turning to receive your love, grace and healing touch first.

I pray that I will not have a Spirit of fear about learning new things. I accept your gift of the spirit of power, love and self-discipline into my brain.

Give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation that I might succeed in school and to know You better.

Thank you, Lord, for using me. For choosing me.

Thank you for blessing me with Your bounty. Your favor. Your love.

I feel more peaceful and fulfilled than I ever have in my entire life.

I am learning so much. Growing so much.

You are so good to me, Lord Jesus.

I don’t deserve Your love, Your grace, Your favor nor Your blessing.

Yet, you still love me.

Your little doctor in the making,

Delbeth
