Singapore Part 1

Singapore City is one of the most livable city in Asia. I’ve been to Singapore twice and the city never fails to surprise me no matter what. Our last visit was in 2008 and I am beyond amazed by the new changes that have been happening in SG between 2008 and 2012. The city has lots of development such as the Universal Studios, Marina Bay Sands and many more tourist spots.

It was a beautiful day upon our arrival in Singapore after a couple of days of massive cold weather in Beijing (I thought I’d die of the freezing point. -13 Celsius was too cold for me) Finally, there was sunshine all over the city of Singapore. No more cold mornings, dark evenings, grey skies and hot puddings or soup.

We arrived in Changi International Airport on a late night and this time, we waited for our relatives to arrive from New York CIty (Aunt Lani and Uncle Jun) who would be joining the fun with us.

Teehee. Our snacks inside the plane 😉

We arrived at our hotel in the middle of the night and it surely was a tiring trip. As soon I was done unpacking, I, without a doubt fell on my bed, took a big sigh, dropped my mobile, pulled my blanket over me and soon fell asleep.

Day 1: Marina Bay Sands Skypark

We woke up early in the morning to refrain from being barbecued by the scorching sun at the top of the building of Marina Bay Sands. So, if you’re planning to visit the place, go there early in the morning because during midday it would be so HOT!

At the lobby while waiting for the driver to pick us up.

Approaching Marina Bay Sands Skypark. Look at that building shaped like a ship across 3 towers! 🙂 Anyways, they said that this building has become one of the iconic symbol of this city.

image

Upon entrance, you would see a very big, beautiful fountain as you go inside. You won’t be able to point the fountain in this picture, don’t you? Let me give you a closer look.

image

Yhup! The Water Wall Fountain! There’s this straight, thin metals moving as the water pours down.

image

Off to the ticketing booth!

image

Once you reached to the top this will be the first view that you will see. Breathtaking, isn’t it? View from the top is just as impressive as from the bottom of the Marina where you can see such other famed sights as the floating soccer field.

Look at that beauty!

An infinity pool with the view of the city, Ain’t it relaxing?

image

image

While tourists are enjoying the pool and savoring the panoramic view of Singapore, we were just at the side ‘DROOLING’ at them. hahaha!

The Singapore Flyer which captured the hearts of both the local people and the tourists.

image

This is a picture taken during our 2008 Singapore escapade wherein we were about to ride the famous flyer.

image

You can take lots of pictures while the flyer is bringing you way up and down. It shows you a nice view of the city of Singapore.

Orchard Road

Orchard Road is the epicenter of the whole shopping scene in Singapore and here, you can find almost anything and everything you need from designer wear, electronic goods, souvenirs and many more!

Clarke Quay

After eating lunch, we directly went to Clarke Quay to put a taste of excitement on our trip. Oh yeah, just a little information, Quay is pronounced “kee” (for all you people that think Quay could rhyme with day), but of course I didn’t know that until I got corrected by our tour guide. Anyways, it was the perfect place to hangout and spend an awesome time with some of your friends and famliy.

 Loving the huge umbrella!

After strolling down to the Singapore River Cruise booth, I was so excited and eager to hop onto the traditional Chinese bum-boat while I enjoy a scenic ride along the river that holds so much history and memories.

I found myself a comfortable corner to sit back and absorb the cool air, the beautiful view and sounds coming from little restaurants and pubs established along river. No wonder why tourists enjoy this short cruise that usually last between 15 to 40 minutes.

The Esplanade, often called as “The Durian” by locals for its unique dome.

The famous icon of Singapore, The Merlion.

Sometimes, the best things in life are the simplest. I love these fountains! Isn’t it a pure joy to see squirts of water spouting from the ground, prancing in carefree abandon?

image

Posing beside the dancing fountains. Seriously I wanted to play with these mischievous spouts of water but I don’t want to roam around Clarke Quay soaking wet. Hahaha 😀

GMAX reverse bungee ride

…and to one of the most memorable day of my 2010! I was able to experience the coolest ride ever! Yes. We were able to ride at the G-Max Reverse Bungee ride! One of the famous bungee jumping sites located in Singapore.

image

Going bungee jumping was banned in this city, so we decided to try this ride since it is a little bit similar to conventional bungee jump but slightly different since riders of the reverse bungee jump are catapulted into the air and will be experiencing an adrenaline rush. 😀

image

image

 Adrenaline seekers in us! 😉

image

image

Mist coming out. Hahaha! My heart was beating twice as faster than the normal, I was like having Ventricular Tachycardia! But nothing beats the excitement in me. :))

image

…and off we go!

image

Our cool hairdo! hahaha 😀

image

I, the left most person, was obviously enjoying. haha!

One of the workers made fun of my little sister by telling her that she was going to have another round, and this time, ALONE. haha!

image

This ride is a good fun for the whole family but not for the weak heart. Though the ride is kind of expensive but worth the time! They even give you a copy of the video showing your expressions during the ride. If you wanna see our video. Click here!

Food can be a little costly at the restaurants here as its a prime location. Really crowded at night when we had our dinner. There were lots of tourists, locals and street performers at restaurants and even bars so you can choose what you want to do during the night. 🙂
